SS202401: Spicy Spiral Tablerunner



Want to learn how to make a beautiful Spicy Spiral table runner?  Jeanne Heyerly has made many of these runners and can teach you her tips and tricks to make your very own masterpiece!  Skill level is intermediate and class requires some preparation before hand.  You won't finish your runner during the class, however, you will have a good start on it and can finish it at home.

Because this runner is a type of bargello you will need to be able to cut strips with a rotary cutter and sew an accurate 1/4" seam.
Materials Included:
We will be providing ironing and cutting stations
Requirements:
-Spicy Spiral Table Runner Pattern (you can purchase in shop or on website). -10º Wedge Ruler (you can purchase in shop or on website). -8 Fat Quarters that can be arranged from dark to light or one family color to another. -3/4 yard 44 inch wide of fabric for the backing -batting of your choice, at least 27”x 44” (Pellon Fleece works very nicely) -larger cutting mat (there will be two at the site but everyone will need one.) -45mm Rotary Cutter with a new blade -28mm Rotary Cutter, optional but useful -4”- 6” wide ruler at least 12 inches long. -2”x 6” ruler, optional -straight pins, hand sewing needle, basting safety pins (optional), seam ripper, thread scissors, fabric scissors, marking pencil or pen that will show on your fabrics -thread -SEWING MACHINE & Iron Preparation before class: (do at least the first 2 steps) 1. Use spray sizing or light starch to stabilize the fat quarters. Fold each fat quarter in half to the selvage edge, so that you will be getting 22 inch strips when you cut. 2. Arrange the 8 fabrics from dark to light or one color family to another if using two different color ranges. 3. If you are certain of the order you want to use, you can continue with the next two steps. 4. Make a swatch list of each fabric and its corresponding number to keep the strips in the correct order. 5. Beside each number on your list write the size of strip to cut. You will cut 4 strips of each fabric. Fabric #1: 3” Fabric #2: 2 3/4” Fabric #3: 2 1/2” Fabric #4: 3 1/4” Fabric #5: 2 3/4” Fabric #6: 3” Fabric #7: 2 1/2” Fabric #8: 3 1/4” Stack these strips into 4 groups starting with #1 and through #8. This will give you 4 identical strata when we sew. Tag them as 1,2,3,&4.
